It was lovely to see Pete Levy on Saturday afternoon at the Hullywood Icons Exhibition. He popped in to say hello and see his photo in the exhibition. you may recall Peter played James Bond in his Hullywood shoot.

I need to say a big thankyou to everyone who attended and was involved in the Hullywood Icons Opening Event and Exhibition preparations:

The opening event of the Hullywood Icons show at HIP Gallery in Princess Quay Shopping Center was extraordinary in so many ways here are just a few
400 tickets were issued via Eventbrite on the night over 400 people attended.
GF Smith supplied all the prints for the exhibition going above and beyond all expectations.
Many of the Hullywood Icons came in costume giving the event a really great celebratory feel.
Bandanarama played an incredible set halfway through the event adding to a really great party atmosphere.
There were cocktails (thanks to Darren Squires), Nibbles supplied by Furley and Co and Wine and glasses supplied by Majestic Wines. Only one broken glass all night! The drinks flowed and the party happened in fine style!
The silver screen was supplied by Tim Wall and installed by his son Ben Wall. Tim also worked on the external projections in Hull, Beverley and Bridlington with sound man and Landrover wrangler Chris Broadwell.
Thanks to the The Chain Gang (The Mayors of Hull, East Riding and beyond) and to Sean Chaytor who’s speech was fantastic. You guys know how to party.
To Anna Dinsdale who made the remarkable thank you speech and gave me the wonderful book present on behalf the Hullywood Icons which I love and will treasure.
I have to say a special thank you to the remarkable Alan Raw for curating the images, going the extra mile on my behalf to make the exhibition happen. To all the HIP Gallery volunteer for working so extraordinarily hard to hang the exhibition and prepare the space. I need to thank the volunteers from the Creative and Cultural Company and HIP Gallery. Special thanks to Creative and Cultural Company volunteer Ellie Hardy who grabbed so many great shots on the night and over the opening weekend.

HULLYWOOD ICONS EXHIBITION AT HIP GALLERY DAY 2 OF SET UP
It was an extremely busy day yesterday, A lot of images to hang, and labels to put up. The exhibition is looking great and the volunteers at HIP have worked like troopers. The stage is almost set for friday nights opening. The exhibition is happening in 3 spaces on the ground floor of Prince’s Quay. All the images are now hung and labelled. Please note all the icons are included on the projection screen and on the blog but not as prints. Louise Harman popped by and I grabbed this picture of her with Chocky.

A really busy day yesterday with lots of graft and laughter. Pizza to raise the spirits at tea time and the framed prints are hung and looking gorgeous. Room 2 is well on the way the projection screen is up and running. You can see your favourite Hullywood Icon there and grab a selfie.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Emma Palmer the Hullywood icons Tweet mistress and Dorothy from an earlier shoot contacted me about recreating a moment from The Rocky Horror Picture Show at notorious Hull cult night club Spiders. So here we have Sophie Buckley (Frank-N-Furter) and Zoe Lyon (Columbia) and Emma Palmer as Magenta.

Naomi Bedworth, Kirstie Gutherless, Carla Navarro, Janet Pound, Shirley McWatt, Pam McArdle, Bryony Booth, Lynne Kirby, Ruth Austin and Louise Harman got in touch with me about recreating a scene from Fame. They are all in an adult musical theatre class at NAPA and it was a pleasure to grab this image late on a 12 shoot saturday.

Cinema Paradiso
I met James Berriman at the projection event for Made in Hull he suggested that he would like to recreate a scene from Cinema Paradiso. John Jackson, who played Simon Pegg in the Shaun of the Dead shoot, works at Cineworld on Kingswood kindly offered us the use of the projection gallery there for the shoot. James’s son Ajay plays Salvatore as a boy.
James:
‘I would like to thank Andy Frodsham of Stoke Film Theatre for lending us two 35mm reels. I have fond memories of Stoke Film Theatre – I was a volunteer projectionist there for 12 years. That’s what inspired me to suggest Cinema Paradiso. Interestingly my uncle Mark’s grandad owned the Cecil and a whole string of cinemas in Hull’.
After the initial shoot James spotted a rather splendid projector in the foyer of the cinema in Beverley. he asked me if I would reshoot the scene in the new location. It was worth it.
