It was an extremely busy day yesterday, A lot of images to hang, and labels to put up. The exhibition is looking great and the volunteers at HIP have worked like troopers. The stage is almost set for friday nights opening. The exhibition is happening in 3 spaces on the ground floor of Prince’s Quay. All the images are now hung and labelled. Please note all the icons are included on the projection screen and on the blog but not as prints. Louise Harman popped by and I grabbed this picture of her with Chocky.
A really busy day yesterday with lots of graft and laughter. Pizza to raise the spirits at tea time and the framed prints are hung and looking gorgeous. Room 2 is well on the way the projection screen is up and running. You can see your favourite Hullywood Icon there and grab a selfie.

Emma Palmer the Hullywood icons Tweet mistress and Dorothy from an earlier shoot contacted me about recreating a moment from The Rocky Horror Picture Show at notorious Hull cult night club Spiders. So here we have Sophie Buckley (Frank-N-Furter) and Zoe Lyon (Columbia) and Emma Palmer as Magenta.
Matt Davies partner Angela got in touch with me about recreating a moment from The Dark Knight Rises in front of City Hall. So one busy saturday afternoon we met up and created this image.
You may recall Paul Martindale as Forest Gump well here we have his daughter Heidi as Heidi at the East Park Animal Education Centre. Many thanks Keith Conkerton as the Grandad and to the staff for wrangling the goats.
Hayley Thorpe contacted me about recreating a scene from Beauty and the Beast at the Brynmor Jones Library at Hull University. We made this image on the top floor. Belle has been Hayley’s hero since she was a child. The combination of book reading and singing was irresistible to her younger self. As a mother she dreams of being able to sit down and read all day uninterrupted.
Sam Hawcroft contacted me about recreating a scene from The Sound of Music. We met at Pearson Park me with a step ladder and Sam in her Sound of Music outfit. Sam’s Nan is from Austria and by a weird quirk of fate Sam is editor of H & E magazine (it’s a long story) so we had plenty to talk about on the way up to location. I got up the ladder to get the angle right and Sam channelled her inner Maria and we made this image.
Soroya Hussain got in touch with me about recreating a scene from Hocus Pocus. Here we have her recreation of the inimitable Winifred Sanderson played by Bette Midler in the film.
Kerry Davies got in touch about his son Joshua Davies recreating a scene from Jurassic Park at Dinostar in Hull. Situated near the C4DI building at the bottom end of Humber Street Dinostar is home to all things Jurassic in Hull. We cased the joint looking for a suitable point to stage the image. The Velociraptors never disappoint visually so we went for this image. Hats off to Joshua he’s only 14 but he’s pulled of a corker! Many thanks to Kerry for bringing the cakes and setting up the location for the shoot. You may recall Kerry was the star of The Westworld shoot.
