Helen Harrison contacted me via Facebook asking if she and her friends could recreate a scene from Made in Dagenham, a dramatization of the 1968 strike at the Ford Dagenham car plant, where female workers walked out in protest against sexual discrimination.
We arranged to meet on saturday at The Old Grey Mare. It was raining but spirits were running high we chattered loudly and laughed a lot despite the inclement January weather.
We headed across the road to Hull University and on the day that millions of woman across the world protested against the inauguration of President Trump and his attitudes towards women we made this humorous image.
In the photo are: Joanne Huntsman; Helen Harrison; Dionne Ruffy; Karen Platten; Louise Lawlor; Jermaine Willan; Rachel Dale and Margaret Korosec.
I have two daughters I love them.I want them to live in a world where equality is a given and sexism is viewed as abhorrent and not to be tolerated. When I recently read the full Transcript of Trump’s infamous ‘Pussy’ speech I felt sick. I’ve added it to this post because I think it needs to be read in all its vileness.:
“I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it. I did try and fuck her. She was married. I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look. I’ve gotta use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything… Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.
